Our walkers become a trusted part of each pet’s routine! They help dogs stay active, reinforce healthy habits, provide companionship, and give pet parents confidence that their dogs are receiving thoughtful, dependable care.
We are building a professional local pet care team for people who take that responsibility seriously. This position is best suited for someone looking for consistent part-time work and the opportunity to grow within the pet care industry, rather than temporary or occasional gig work.
What Barkley's Provides
Weekly Consistency
Start with a lighter schedule, then build toward established routes, familiar dog pairings, and consistent weekly schedules.
Hands-On Training & Support
Receive structured onboarding, paid training, field guidance, and direct team support as you build confidence and responsibility.
Professional Employment
This is a W-2 employee position working as part of the Barkley’s team — not as an independent contractor or app-based gig worker.
Uniform & Equipment
Barkley’s provides uniform T-shirts, sweatshirts, and the walking gear and pet care supplies needed for the role.
Compensation & Benefits
Earn ~$20–$25 per hour,
100% of client tips, $0.30/mile mileage reimbursement, biweekly direct deposit, and earned sick time.

What We Are Looking For
We are seeking dependable, thoughtful people who want to become trusted members of our pet care team.
Qualified applicants must:

Be at least 18 years old

Be legally authorized to work in the United States

Have a reliable personal vehicle with a safe, usable back seat

Hold a valid driver’s license and appropriate automobile insurance

Live within approximately 15–20 minutes of Roslindale and West Roxbury.

Be available for at least three to four consistent weekdays

Have regular availability during the 10:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. shift

Be able to walk a few miles and safely lift approximately 40–50 pounds

Be comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions

Communicate clearly and professionally

Follow written pet care instructions carefully

Be comfortable working independently while remaining accountable to a team

Have experience caring for dogs and/or a passion for pet care

Able to make a reliable, longer-term commitment to an established weekly schedule
You do not need to know everything on your first day. Strong candidates are willing to learn, ask questions when something is unclear, and consistently follow the processes designed to keep walkers and pets safe.
Our hiring process includes a brief 15-minute phone call, a 30-minute Google Meet interview, and a paid test walk. Final candidates must also complete a background check and provide professional references before joining the Barkley’s team.
